I got the idea for "Punch Drunk" when I saw some beer cans that my husband put on the counter after he drank them. He has the habit of crushing the cans when he's finished, so they can be recycled. The combination of overhead lights hitting the cans, and the random shapes, showed the little personality of each can. I thought it would make a fun subject for a painting. Every can in the painting has its own unique persona and "body language" that gives this piece an amusing feel.
